60th Wedding Anniversary of Fred and Camille Berley

June 25, 2006

In 1970, I became acquainted with Vicki Berley, a high school senior at Bishop Kenny High School and the adopted daughter of Fred and Camille Berley. Over the years, our friendship deepened. I married Lydia; Vicki married Bill Payne (I was their wedding photographer) and families developed on both sides. Ten years ago, Camille contacted me with a request to photograph their 50th anniversary, though I had long since dropped that hobby. At that time we discovered, however, that we shared a common date: they were married and I was born, both on June 15, 1946. This June, Vicki told me about the anniversary celebration. Although Lydia would be out of town, I jumped at the chance of hosting Bill, Vicki and Bill's Mom, Wanda. We had a wonderful time together and enjoyed, together, the 60th anniversary.

The invitation to the event featured a photograph taken at the actual wedding Bill and Vicki had that photograph turned into a water color.  The names of Fred and Camille's children are on each of the cake layers and the ribbons descending from the cake knife have the names and birthdates of all of the grandchildren.
Fred and Camille cut the cake --- again!
