Tom participated in the Quality Assurance Review Team (QART) to grant district accreditation to the school district of Broward County, Florida. A team of 42 educators, led by Dr. Mark Elgart and Dr. Nikki Armato examined, closely, the activities of the district and of the schools in the district.

Ken Manual and I flew from Jacksonville to Ft. Lauderdale for the QART visit. The initial training concluded at 2145.

The team interviewed the superintendent, senior staff, board members, non-visited principals and stakeholders. The debriefing ended at 2200 in the evening

Tom and his partner  visited Winston Park Elementary School and Margate Elementary Schools. The evening debrief ended at 2200.

In the morning, additional interviews were conducted of district personnel to resolve discrepancies. Final reports were written and the oral report was made to the Superintendent and to the board. Flights home followed

Broward County was recommended, without reservation, for five years district accreditation as a quality district.
