We drove from Jacksonville down to Sanford and boarded the Auto Train from Sanford to Lorton, Virginia.

Hollerbach's Willow Tree Cafe

We arrived at the Auto Train Station early, and hungry. An Amtrak employee needs to be commended for recommending the Willow Tree Cafe, 3 miles south of the station in downtown Sanford.

Lyd had the soup-of-the-day, a Tomato Soup.

She then enjoyed a Potato Crab Stack

Tom had German Cucumber Salad

and Pork Kliene Schnitzel with German Potato Salad.

The Auto Train

The Auto Train departed from Sanford at 1552, 8 minutes early. We traveled up the west side of the St.Johns River, through Jacksonville, and then north through Georgia and the Carolinas. We were 35 rail cars carrying 189 vehicles.
