Market Street Inn
2/19/2009
Dinner was at the Market Street Inn for Margaret, Victor, Elaine and the 2 of us.
We started with drinks, of course. A pair of Dewar's and Soda (5.75) for Margaret and Lyd, a Gin and Tonic (4.75) for Victor, Tonic (2.50) for Elaine, and a pair of Maker's Mark Manhattans (8.75) for Tom.
Victor and Margaret had tonight's special of Lobster and Shrimp Soup (10), which they pronounced to be quite good.
Tom selected the Caesar Salad (2 w/meal). It was good.
Lyd chose the Spring Walnut Salad, with Raspberry Vinaigrette (2 w/meal). It was good.
Margaret's entree was Grilled Chicken Kabobs, two skewers with peppers, onions, mushroom and tomato served over rice with a sweet honey barbecue sauce. (19) Margaret found the veggies to be undercooked, with the chicken overcooked. It was tough.
Tom selected the Black Angus Sirloin, a house-butchered sirloin. It was served with smashed potatoes and a choice of sauces, though the peppercorn demi glace is recommended. (21) Although it was ordered to be cooked "medium", it came cooked "medium-well". The peppercorn sauce was too spicy.
Lyd selected the Center Cut Filet Mignon, served with smashed potatoes. The chef's sauce of-the-day was a Blue Moon Sauce. (31) The offering was not to her liking and seemed tough for a filet.
Elaine opted for the Crab Cake Sandwich, (13) and enjoyed it.
The service was good, and the drinks were excellent. Overall, the dinner was not as good as we expected.
