Cathy Payne's Wedding |
5/1/2010 |
Cathy Payne was married to Stephen Marzen in Hyattsville, Maryland, near the University of Maryland.
Lyd did her normal R&R with Margaret Friday morning and then we dropped off Buddy at the doggie hotel and drove to College Park, stopping for lunch at the Snapper Restaurant in Cambridge.
We had dinner in the hotel bar on Friday.
The wedding was on Saturday, with a sit-down dinner reception following.
We drove back to Salisbury on Sunday morning.

The wedding was a lovely traditional Catholic Service.
During the service, a cell phone sounded and the guest, not knowing the acoustics of the church, took the call in the vestibule and was audible to the back half of the congregation.
Later, I asked the priest if he was aware of it and he indicated that though he hadn't been, it was nothing compared to cell phones in the confessional. |

The reception was held at the UMUC Conference Center in Hyattsville, a few
blocks from the church. A cocktail reception, complete with sumptuous hors
d'oeuvres, proceeded the sit-down dinner.
The Maryland crab cake proceeded a nice filet of salmon.
We were seated with Vicki's brother Fred, and Sherri, and other old friends of the Berley family, including Father John Hurley, the presiding priest.
Jan Herman, an historian with the naval medical service, sent us excellent documentaries of Dr. Berley, commenting on his tenure as a POW of the Japanese in WW2.
