FLIGHT TRAINING
01/10/2011
The 4-hour drive from Salisbury to Reading to visit Kate, Sal and Nico is a chore. By air, it would be about 1.5 hours. There are no airline flights into Reading. Therefore,
I wanted to learn how to fly.
It would have taken about 50 hours of flight time and instruction. At around 4 hours per week, I had hoped to finish in late spring. We'd intended to keep this a secret from the kids until we appeared, unannounced, by plane, sometime this summer, but it's not going to happen.
Mon, Jan 10 Don and I spoke on the phone as the weather tomorrow should be pretty bad. We discussed Federal Aviation Regulations for pilot qualifications. A review of part 67 lead me to 67.313 which says that the use of insulin disqualifies an applicant for earning a Class III medical from the FAA. Therefore, it's not going to happen. We did have a lot of fun.
Wed, Jan 05 I had my Introductory Flight with Don Legg in a C172. We're going to schedule 1400-1600 on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Lyd went along and took lots of pictures. I need to get a Class 3 Flight Physical.
