THE ODD COUPLE |
June, 2012 |

The Salisbury Community Players are presenting The Odd Couple.
It is directed by Matt Bogdan.

Felix Ungar has just broken up with his wife. Despondent, he goes to kill himself but is saved by his friend Oscar Madison. With nowhere else to go, Felix is urged by Oscar to move in with him, at least for a while. The only problem is that Felix is neat, tidy, and neurotic, whereas Oscar is slovenly and casual.

I went to WorWic and enjoyed the Players’ night presentation of The Odd Couple.
After the show, I joined a chunk of the cast at Fox and Olive for post-show for a couple of drinks and an order of their calamari.

I went back to the auditions for the Odd Couple, but was not asked to read any of the scenes and will not be cast.

Matt begins three days of auditions.
The last show will be on Saturday, June 23rd, the day we sail on our Chesapeake Cruise, so I won't get a role.
I went to auditions just for the experience.
There were four men and no women.
The four of us took turns reading the roles of Felix and Oscar in three different scenes which we read several times:
1) Felix and Oscar are each describing how diificult each, himself, is to live with. 2) The end of Act I when Frances calls to ask Oscar when Felix is coming to get his clothes because she wants to paint the bedroom, and 3) Felix has ruined the evening with the Pigeon sisters and Oscar is fed up.
We also did one scene of the poker buddies, before the arrival of Felix, one time.
