We're going to Wyomissing for the weekend. It's Easter Weekend, so we had planned on going up on Saturday, but Kate wrote and asked us to come up a day early, so we'll go up on Friday, after boarding Buddy, and we'll return on Monday. We'll take lemon squares, a walnut cake and the ingredients for a double quantity of Sister Cities Slaw to be prepared on Sunday morning.
Friday: At 0635, it’s 36o. At 0910, Buddy was at Weeping Willow Kennel and we were on the road. After a brief stop at Chick-Fil-A, we arrived in Wyomissing at 1245. We played with the boys in the afternoon and had a good time. Sal was home a little after 5 and cooked salmon on the salt block and Kate contributed roasted veggies.

Saturday: At 0714, it’s 33o and clear in Reading. We played with the boys in the morning, some outside. Kate served soup and sandwiches for lunch. We played and napped in the afternoon and Kate served a really nice Santa Fe chicken for dinner. In the evening, the boys watched Monsters, Inc.

Sunday: At 0645, it’s 33 in Reading. When the boys awakened, each had a hunt for goodies left by the Easter Bunny. Kate and Sal served an enormous breakfast of eggs, bacon, sausage, English muffins, salsa, guacamole and Romano Cheese for the eggs. The house prep for the family dinner started right after breakfast. The family, about 22, began to assemble by 1400 and we all sat down about 1500. Dinner was followed by a few rounds of Polish Poker, as the family loves card games. By around 1830, the group began to break up.

Monday: We got up about 0615 to a heavy fog. Kate was already up and dressed for work. We left at 0700 and the fog was beginning to clear. The traffic was too heavy for cruise control as we headed into the Philadelphia area. The trip was uneventful until we turned south on I-476, the Blue Route. Near mile marker 13, traffic was stopped. We spent the next 30-40 minutes crawling to mile post 11. Though we could see the lights of the emergency vehicles, by the time we passed their location, the incident was over and we were back to full speed. There must have been an incident in the northbound lanes as well, though we didn’t see it. The traffic, however, was backed up from mile post 11 all the way south to I-95. The rest of the trip was uneventful and we picked up Buddy at 1100 and were home by 1130.
