Home 28th Commissioner's Academic Challenge
April, 2013 at Disney World

We returned to the Contemporary Resort Convention Center for the 28th Commissioner's Academic Challenge, Tom's 16th.
La Hacienda de San Angel
Dinner was disappointing. We were seated in a little tiny corner in the back of a back dining room. I ordered a classic Margarita (12.50), which is steep, even for Disney prices. It came on the rocks, and I wasn’t aware that frozen was available until the other table back in our corner received theirs frozen. Lyd solicited advice from our server and enjoyed a glass of Zolo Torrontes, Argentina ’12 (9). I ordered the Queso Fundido (12.75) of Melted Cheese, poblano peppers, choizo and flour tortillas. Lyd had the Crema de Elote (7.25) of a corn cream soup served with Julianne spicy tortillas, roasted corn kennels (sic) and Mexican Sour Cream. She enjoyed it. They also brought out a basket of corn chips with two kinds of salsa. The problem is that the drinks, chips, salsa and both starters all came out at the same time, so the chips were pretty well ignored. For our entrée, we split the Parrillada Del Mar (49.95, designed for two) of a mixed grill offering shrimp, fish, scallops and vegetables, served with beans and rice, though the menu said salsas, not rice. Our wait to settle the check was excessive, a demerit from me. We don’t plan to return.
