Tom is participating in the Mayor Making of Mayor Elect Penny Brown in Salisbury, England, UK.
At 0644, it’s 43. I had a dental cleaning, and Stacey told me it’s no longer necessary to take the penicillin before the procedure. We left the house at 1630 for the Salisbury, MD, airport. Though my bag was heavy, it didn’t exceed limits and also passed the TSA inspection. At 1742, I passed through the security checkpoint, receiving the customary pat-down when my artificial hips triggered the metal detector. We took off on time, after a 5 minute wait for an air traffic arrival slot in Philadelphia. My seat mate was a rising junior art history major at Villanova. She had driven down to Ocean City to store her stuff with her aunt for the summer and was headed home to San Francisco. Upon landing in Philadelphia, I boarded the shuttle bus to the A/B terminal. At the Travelex Currency Exchange, I bought £100 for $174.17, and €120 for $177.45. There was a $9.95 service charge. I got an email from Kate and the boys with a “Bon Voyage” message and proceeded to Gate A26 to await boarding. They boarded the envoy class at 2105 and it is fabulous. Flight Attendant Dan provided me with two glasses of champagne before the plane ever moved. Stan, in the seat across the aisle, lives in Wilmington, DE and is headed for a cruise in Eastern Europe. By 2200, we were in the air, headed across the ocean. I had a couple of Jack Daniels and gingerale, followed by a dinner of Mahi Mahi, while I watched the first half of Oz, the Great and Powerful, before flattening my seat and getting some sleep….
