At 1400, we returned to the bus where our local guide, Sarah, was waiting for us. When we arrived at Windsor Castle, we were advised that we would be subjected to an airport style search, so I put my pocket knife in my duffle bag and left it on the bus, along with my poncho and umbrella. Sarah took us up many flights of steps and into the castle grounds. As we approached St. George's Chapel it began to rain. Sarah took us through the chapel, but photography was not permitted. As we were leaving the lady's Chapel, I missed a step and went down, but it was a soft landing. Outside, it was now more of a rainfall and I was loaned an umbrella. We went into the Upper Ward, where pictures are, again, not allowed, and into Queen Mary's Doll's House. The Drawings Gallery currently shows all the portraits of the queen. I then went up and toured the State Apartments which are used for ceremonial purposes. At 1730, we boarded the bus and went back to Foxhills. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
