Home Fall Holiday at Disney World 2015

Buddy went to the kennel Monday afternoon. At 0547, it's 63. We beat the 0530 alarm by 10 minutes with a steady rain. A check with the airline shows we are delayed 15 minutes out of Salisbury from 0745 to 0800. We left the house at 0630 for the short drive to the airport. Security passage was easy, though several of us needed manual screening (metal hips for me). AA announced the flight as overbooked and solicited volunteers to take a later flight; not us! When we boarded, the pilot told us ATC had moved our wheels-up to 0831. We sat on the empty runway with props turning until that precise time. The trip was bumpy, with one young lady a few rows ahead of us yelping at one pronounced drop. Lid held my right arm tightly until we descended and landed in PHL.

It's now 0915 and several fellow travelers have already missed their connections. The shuttle bus to the "A" terminal was excruciatingly slow. A22 is at the far end of the International Terminal. We were fortunate to flag down a passenger service cart who took us the rest of the way to the gate. There, we found an empty departure lounge and two gate agents waiting to scan our boarding passes. Alas, I'm not optimistic that our luggage made the tight connection. When we boarded the A330, Lyd went across and forward to row 3, seat F, while I took seat C. Business Class in the A330 features 20 luxurious seats in 5 rows of 4. Our two center seats, similar to my accommodations on my European trip, will recline totally flat. Following Bloody Marys, we left the gate at 1015, 10 minutes late and #4 for departure. At 1025, we were wheels up and turning south. A very nice anti-pasta appeared and I watched the first half of Disney's movie "Tomorrowland" before taking a nice nap. I awoke at 1220 and we touched down at 1235.

Chris Peters was waiting for us and whisked us to Bay Lake Tower where room 8128, facing the Magic Kingdom on the 11th floor was already waiting for us. We unpacked and went over to The Wave Lounge. I had a pair of Pimm's Punch (10.25) and Lyd had a scotch and Soda (8). On the way back to the room, we stopped at Bayview Gifts and bought booze.

We had a 1915 reservation at Citricos, in the Grand Floridian, which is always our first stop on every Disney vacation.

We were back in the room by 2100. The "Wishes" fireworks have been replaced, tonight, by fireworks for Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party.
