Pixie Dust List

Decades ago, we discovered that Walt Disny World takes the opinions of its guests seriously. We alawys responded to the comment card that used to come in the mail and now come in emails. That method didn't give us the venue we needed to recognize that handfull of cast members, each visit, that went the extra mile in looking after our enjoyment of WDW. Therefore, we created our Pixie Dust List. We carry business cards on-property that we hand out when we encounter someone special. They read:
"You Made Our Pixie Dust List.
Today, you made our visit more magical and we're telling Disney all about it."

Each trip, soon after retuning home, we send our list to Guest Communications, where, we've been told, they have a "file" on us. After our nominees are positively identified, our emailed comments are sent to each cast member and to his/her supervisor. This is our small way of saying thanks.

We arrived at BLT at 1400, well before check-in time. We were told that Housekeeping was already in the room, so we were optimistic. That optimism soon disappeared. The rest of the family changed clothes and went to the pool, and Lyd and I chatted with Jim, a DVC representative in the BLT Lobby. His Disney lore database is deeper than mine, including the little known tidbit that hostesses in the Haunted Mansion name their headpieces once they’ve “Earned Their Ears.” He was very entertaining and helped pass the time until our room was ready, earning his place as our first Pixie Dust List honoree. The next day, at the Haunted Mansion, I met the “owners/wearers” of “Juan” and “Patrick Swayze.”

We arrived at Citricos at 1930 and were introduced to Moses, our server for the evening. The kitchen cast of Chef Phil presented us with Amuse Bouche of goat cheese and olives with a red sauce and a crostini. Lyd mused on how best to eat it and Moses offered that putting it in your mouth and chewing was advisable! Lyd cracked up and asked me for a Pixie Dust List Card.

A little information is needed for this to make sense. I’m 69, 5’10” and about 225. I have a white beard similar to Richard Attenborough’s in Jurassic Park. From Star Tours, we walked over to Pixar. Enroute, I was lagging a bit behind the family. As we passed near the Great Movie Ride, Lisa, a cast member serving as a character escort waved, trotted over, and intercepted me to ask if she was on the Naughty or Nice List. I didn’t think quickly enough to give her a Pixie Dust List Card, but I did tell her I couldn’t imagine that a Disney World cast member could ever be on the naughty list. She is now, however, on our Pixie Dust List.
