WDW Weekend
Thursday, January 12, 2006

Today we packed in the morning and then had lunch at Don Pablo's, a Mexican Restaurant in Tinsel Town.  This is our traditional luncheon site on our way to WDW.  We arrived, just before 4 and went to a 10th floor Tower Room, a new experience for us at the Contemporary, though we stayed in concierge accommodations at Yacht, last year.  Dinner was at the fabulous California Grill on the 15th floor of the Contemporary.
Packing involves food and clothes The new Tower Rooms offer a lot of amenities over the older rooms
One Wall has a spacious work area with plenty of electricity and internet connections The large, square, shallow sinks are interesting
The new rooms have lots of mirrors and muted browns.  There is no "Mickey" in the room. There is a very nice flat panel TV

This is a deluxe sushi platter.  I'll post the names soon.  The lower left was definitely eel and it just melts in the mouth.
Lyd adores the Hudson Valley Foie gras with Brioche French Toast, Honey-Ginger Sauce, and Apple Chutney ($15) which was accompanied by a lovely glass of Royal Tokaji, Tokaji 5 Puttonyos '99 ($15).  She also tried the Sonoma Goat Cheese Ravioli with Sun-dried Tomatoes, Shiitake Mushrooms, and Basil ($11) (not pictured) and didn't find it that good. This was our great cooking staff.  Takashi is on the left.  Amy (right) has been at the CG for 3 years. Takashi's Platter
The end of the evening (before the hotel staff puts out the desserts) is the fireworks over The Magic Kingdom.  We enjoyed them from our private balcony on the 10th floor.
