Hi, My Name is Buddy |
I got adopted 4/18/2009 |
|
I was born sometime in December of 2007, though I don't know what day.
It might have been Christmas, whatever that is.
My 1st family named me Spider.
I don't remember much of my puppy days, but I think there were a lot of other beagles. (I'm a beagle!)
I think I was supposed to become a hunter, like the other beagles.
I tried really hard to do that (I still do. You should hear my voice!).
But I guess I wasn't very good at being a hunter dog, 'cause they sent me to the SPCA
in Virginia.

The
SPCA was OK, and there were some really nice ladies there and
I think they liked me.
But, I guess it wasn't my new home, 'cause they told me they were gonna' find me a home.
They put my picture on somethin' called a web site so other people could see how cute I was.

Yesterday morning, Laura (she really likes me) came and got me from my cage and said I had visitors.
They drove down from Salisbury (where ever that is) just to see me.
They said they wanted to adopt me and take me to their home -- cool!
Mom and Dad (that's what I call them) went and had lunch while SPCA got me ready.
They put a chip in my neck so Mom and Dad can find me if I get lost.
At 1300 (I think that's 1:00) we got in the car and went to Salisbury --- my new home.
Mom and Dad, my new adopted parents, changed my name to Buddy.
(This name change seemed like a good idea, 'cause I was gettin' confused.
Some of the names they called me were: Spider, Jack, Charlie and Kate. I was having identity problems.)

This place is pretty cool.
There's a thing called a sofa which is really soft and comfortable and it's OK if I get up on it.
I have my own food bowl and a water bowl, too.
The food here is pretty good.
Mom gave me some chicken for dinner.
There seem to be a lot of rules.
There are so many good things to chew on, but I have to learn which ones are OK to chew and which ones are to be left alone.
I've got a lot to learn about my new home.
Mom and Dad have a big bed upstairs and I have my own bed nearby.
I tried to jump up and sleep between Mom and Dad and it was OK --- cool!

|
Sunday, we were up at 0630 for a walk and breakfast.
Since it's Sunday morning, Mom wanted to go to church with Grammy, so she left me home with Dad.
I cried at the back door for a while, and then at the front door for a while and then at the window in the sun room, for a while.
I did this for an hour or two, but Mom didn't answer, so I decided to explore the house.
|
|
Dad caught me on the butler's table in the living room.
That potpourri looked tasty, but Dad said "NO" and took it away.
|
|
|
There's another bowl of this potpourri stuff on the chest behind the living room sofa.
Dad said "NO" again and took it away, again!
|
|
|
There's a really nice bay window in the dining room.
It's three feet off the floor, but has a great view of the street.
It was an easy jump.
There's a lot of breakable stuff here, so Dad said I couldn't be up here either.
(I did get back up there two more times.)
|
|
|
This potpourri in the living room also looked tasty, but I heard Dad coming, so I looked away.
There's a LOT of rules.
Dad seems tense.
|
|
Mom didn't go to church, after all.
She came home and we all went to Petsmart.
It was a neat place and there were other dogs to talk to.
I talked a lot, really loud.
Mom took me outside.
|
|
|
Now, I have a new place to stay when Mom's not home.
It's called a crate.
I'm not sure why I have to be in there, 'cause I didn't do anything wrong.
|
|
|
|
In the afternoon, Mom gave me a scrub in the shower and then she and I took a nap on the sofa.
Tomorrow, Dad's gonna' call a vet so I can have my very own doctor.
He says her name is Dr. Barbara and she makes "house calls", whatever that is.
|
|
|
There's a lot of rules here, but a lot of love, too.
I think I'll stay here.
Mom and Dad aren't as frisky as I'd like, but they seem to like me.
I think if I learn the rules, I might not have to go in the crate unless I want to.
I'll let you know!

Tuesday, I made a new friend.
Her name is Dr. Barbara and she's my doctor.
She makes house calls.
She gave me a shot.
