LANDSCAPING
9/11/2010
After the porch was substantially completed and the fence was installed, we had the yard redesigned. Tom wanted a small English Garden in the backyard. Lyd wanted to change the landscaping in the front yard. Both agree that the "hump" in the front yard had to go. We picked Bryan LeCompte of Yard Design for the project.
Sat, Sep 11 Bryan and his people finished the installation of the yard and we paid him off. I was disappointed that he also wanted us to pay the $100 to the guy he hired to remove the stump as that wasn't in the original contract.
Fri, Sep 10 Brian's crew started planting the front yard.
Thu, Sep 9 Fourteen yards of black mulch were delivered and piled on the driveway.
Wed, Sep 1 The Hispanic Dozen are back. Five installed the ten foot round patio in the back yard and the remaining 7 graded and raked in the front.
Tue, Aug 31 Bryan marked a 10' circle in the back yard for the patio.
Mon, Aug 23 Bryan drove by and looked all the Messick trucks. He called and we decided that he'll come in after Messick is finished with the porch and Dickerson is finished with the fencing.
Sun, Aug 22 I called Bryan to see if we were on his schedule. His cell phone mailbox was full so I called the business number and left a message.
Mon, Aug 2 Billy Singleton dropped by to see if we were pleased with the job as he hasn't been able to talk to Bryan. We indicated that we were and I then called Bryan to tell him so.
Sat, Jul 31 The irrigation electrician finished the installation of the timer and pump starter.
Mon, Jul 26 The irrigation electrician came and worked on the timer.
Sat, Jul 24 Friday afternoon, Billy Singleton came to the back door soliciting the job of removing the stump from the front yard. Tonight, apparently hired by Bryan, he returned at 1945 and ground out the stump.
Thu, Jul 22 Bryan’s son had a crew in the front yard installing the irrigation pipes. At 1442, they cut the gas line and Chesapeake Utilities sent a crew to patch the line and restore our service. The sprinkler control box will be on the east corner of the house near the porch.
Mon, Jul 19 Bryan and 11 other men arrived and demolished the front yard. The next step is to install the irrigation and remove the stump. Planting won't be until the middle of August, due to the heat.
Fri, Jul 16 Though we expected him today, Bryan neither called nor showed.
Tue, Jul 13 Bryan called again and said he'll start the end of THIS week.
Wed, Jun 30 A phone call to Bryan yields the plan that he's going to start the front yard the end of next week, but that didn't happen.
Thu, Jun 24 The county health department says the old well needs to be sealed. A message was left for Bryan.
Wed, Jun 23 A 3-man crew from Atlantic Coastal Drilling sank a 50' shaft in the front yard for the irrigation well.
Tue, Jun 22 Atlantic Coast Drilling called to clarify the status of the permits.
Mon, Jun 21 Chesapeake Gas and the City came and marked their utility lines in preparation for the drilling of the well.
Fri, Jun 18 I paid the drilling permit fee to the county and they sent me to pay another one to the city. I completed the paperwork with the city, but they require a signature from the driller. All that paperwork, and a deposit, was given to Bryan. He anticipates the well will be drilled next week.
Thu, Jun 17 Bryan LeCompte of Yard Designs dropped off his proposal for the yard and we accepted it.
Wed, Jun 16 Brian from Yard Design came and discussed our and his plans for our yard. The first step will be the drilling of the new well. He'll be back to us in a few days with his written plans for the yard. It will be broken into stages. He likes boxwood, so we do agree on that.
