Once again, we're going to take a trip to the Jersey Shore where The Ferrarellos have taken a beach house for a week.
This year, we're going to get a motel for two nights instead of dashing up and back in a day trip.

The GPS took us through Millsboro and into Lewes from the south. We found Lewes Pizza around 1100 and had a Lewes Special. The ferry surprised us with a fuel surcharge of $4. Although the crossing on the MV New Jersey was pretty smoth, Lyd was adversely affected by the rolling motion.
The Singapore Motel is a dump. The manager, who seems to do everything, showed us to the room. Billed as a suite, it had a front room with a sofa, small table, tiny fridge and tiny microwave. Although there are ceiling lights, we never found a switch to turn them on. The bedroom has a king. To be fair, the entire wall facing the ocean is two pair of French doors, so the claim of ocean front is certainly valid. Though the hotel is billed as central air conditioning, the single window A/C in our room was more of a jet engine. Lyd took a two hour nap. Kate, Sal and Nico picked us up and we went a few blocks north to the Wildwood Boardwalk. Sal bought a fist full of tickets for the rides, but Nico only wanted to look at the rides and didn’t actually want to get on any of them. He, and we, did have fun. Lyd and I each got a sausage and peppers roll at Jumbo’s, We went back to the six bedroom duplex that the Ferrarellos have taken for the week. It’s quite spacious (though not spacious enough for us to join them.) After saying hellos, Sal drove us back to the hotel and Lyd retired.
From 2000 to 2233, I chatted with our neighbor, Natalie, a 3rd grade teacher from Flatbush in Brooklyn.

I was up a little after 6 and opened up the front of the room.
Lyd was up a little after 7 and we sat in the shade on the side of our room to use our respective technologies.
At 0800, we walked to the front of the hotel to the Oasis Café and had breakfast sandwiches.
It’s a little hole in the wall, taking cash only.
We ate outside with skates attempting to intimidate us into abandoning the sandwiches to them.
We prevailed.
About 1030, the family appeared on the beach and we joined them, making a total of 15 of us.
We enjoyed the sun and the sand.
Around noon, Sal called “Sal’s Pizza” and ordered 5 pizzas which we purchased.
Following lunch, we did a little family Trivial Pursuit.
Lyd went up for a nap.
When Nico finally ran out of steam and went back for his nap, I returned to our room as well, as I had not done a great job of staying out of the sun.
In the early evening, Lyd and I walked the 4 blocks up to the house being rented by the Ferrarellos for a dinner of Pasta Fagioili.
We returned to the hotel around 2030 and turned in.

We were up by 6 and left the hotel before 7 for our 8:30 ferry.
We were pleasantly surprised at 0715 to learn we were in time for the 0730 ferry.
We disembarked in Lewes at 0900 and drove home.
We stopped at IHOP in north Salisbury for breakfast and then picked up Buddy from Weeping Willow Kennels and were home before noon.
