Lyd had never seen the Grand Canyon, so we booked "Southwest Splendors," an "Adventure by Disney."
We flew from Salisbury to Phoenix with a plane change in Charlotte Our group of 25 adults and 2 guides boarded our spacious motor coach and we were headed out of Phoenix. Whereas we’ve no kids in the group, we made an unscheduled stop to take Saguaro Cactus pictures. Our first scheduled stop was at Montezuma’s Castle National Park to look at the ruins of the cliff dwellings. In Sedona, we also visited Bell Rock in the Coconino National Forest. This was also an unscheduled stop. As we neared our hotel, the Amara Resort and Spa in Sedona, the reason was revealed. It seems the truck carrying all of the other baggage and all of Mike’s and Tiffany’s equipment had broken down on I-17. Our bags were delivered to the room about 1715. We went down at 1830 for dinner to learn that the rest of the luggage is still missing. We had a buffet dinner lightly lit by Tiki torches, so it was difficult to see what we were eating. A husband-wife cowboy duo entertained us during dinner. Our guides left early to search out the missing bags. We went to bed at 2030 (MST, 2330 EDT) after a long day. The front desk called twice around 2130 MST (0030 EDT Sunday) to tell us our bags had arrived and we explained, twice, we’d already received our bags and we’d like to get some sleep now.
