We’ve heard a new restaurant is planned for the site of the old Waterman’s and decided to check it out. The Fox and Olive, having opened just this past Saturday, is open for lunch and dinner and soon for breakfast. Margaret started with a glass of Ecco Domani Moscato (6). The wine list is still a little sparse, this close to opening, so Lyd and I had a bottle of Apothtic Red Blend (22). Margaret had a bowl of French Onion Soup, without cheese (3.99). Lyd tasted it and thought it was very good. Lyd and I each had a bowl of the house Cream of Crab Soup (3.99), which was excellent. Margaret had a tossed salad and Lyd and I each had the Caesar Salad. Sonya offered us a choice of dressings, something I’m not used to for a Caesar and we both opted for the house dressing. The salads were nothing spectacular. We’d like to see other salads from the Med. Lyd and Margaret both selected the Eggplant Parmesan (9.95). Lyd ranked it tied with the same dish at Fratelli’s and above the same from Olive Garden. I had the Cinnamon Chipotle Rubbed Pork Chops (11.99), seared and drizzled with an herb cranberry jus. The sauce was both sweet and spicy and spooned liberally over the three chops. The dining room has benefited from a complete makeover and the service was excellent. We spotted several items on the menu which we’ll try on future visits. Oh yes, there will be future visits. The food is good and the prices are reasonable.
