We're sailing to and from New Orleans, aboard the "Queen of the Mississippi" on our 2nd cruise with American Cruise Lines.
At 0545, it’s 36o in Salisbury. The electronic alarm was set for 0600, but the canine alarm went off at 0545 and would not be denied. We finished packing and left the house at 0730, just as planned. We struggled a bit through the high school traffic, and arrived at Weeping Willow Kennel just before their 0800 opening time. They spotted us out front and opened a few minutes early to take Buddy in for his stay. It's only 5 minutes to the airport and we made it easily. With no weather in sight and the Dash 8 airplane already on the runway, everything looked good. Whereas Salisbury is a small airport, security screening is pretty easy, though Lyd thought the floor was cold. US4426 left 15 minutes early for the 49 minute flight to Philadelphia. Upon arrival in Philadelphia, Terminal F is expanding, so it's a bit of a maze. We walked to gate F14 and took the shuttle bus to Terminal C where it was a short walk to gate C22. At 1045 we boarded US1329, an Embraer 190, and found a young man in my seat. The confusion was corrected and he moved. We taxied out and were cleared for immediate takeoff on 27L, a rare occurrence in Philadelphia and we were wheels-up at 1110, on-schedule. We were cleared for FL320 for a 2:50 flight time. Our flight attendant, Samantha, is from Newark, DE. She and her husband are bikers and they have an 8 year-old daughter. We landed in New Orleans about 15 minutes early to 58 degrees and partly cloudy. We collected our bags quickly and went out to the taxi stand. For 2 people, airport to downtown, it’s a flat $33 and I gave the nice Haitian driver 2 twenties.
