We're sailing to and from New Orleans, aboard the "Queen of the Mississippi" on our 2nd cruise with American Cruise Lines.
Check in at the Wyndham Riverfront was easy and by 1400, we were in Room 302, a nice room overlooking the alley. Dinner was at 6 in 7 on Fulton, downstairs in the hotel. The dining room was empty when we were seated, though there were a half-dozen folks at the bar, which was separated from the dining room by a low partition, insufficient to keep the aroma of bar popcorn from wafting though the dining room. Lyd started with Club soda (3). I had a pair of Maker’s Mark Manhattans (12.50), which, though good, were hardly worth the highest price I can ever remember paying for such a drink, even at Disney. We each selected the appetizer of Gulf Oysters and Brie with a Crystal Sauce (11). This alone, not as expensive as the drink, was superb! Lyd moved on to the Filet of Beef and Crab (30) of a grilled 8 ounce filet, Pontchartrain Blue Crab Sauce, Buttermilk Mashed potatoes and haricot verts which she pronounced to be quite good, and to which she added a glass of merlot (8, though we never saw a wine list from which to select). I had the Fulton Street Veal (29 on the menu, but 22 on the bill!) of veal cutlets sautéed and topped with a Blue crab beurre blanc sauce, parsley potatoes and haricot verts which was also very good. We skipped dessert and returned to the room
