Background
At 0614, it’s 52 with a heavy fog in Petersburg . There is still no internet connection. Following breakfast, we took a walking tour of the Petersburg fishing docks. Our gang plank is on the fourth deck as the tide is low. We took the shuttle in to Petersburg, a town of 3000. We stopped at Coastal Cold Storage for lunch where I had the highly recommended Beer Batter Halibut Bites and Lyd had a shrimp sandwich. We stopped at Diamonte Gift Shopp and bought a soapstone bear with a fish. We took pictures of the large totems by the Post Office and then caught the shuttle back to the boat. The gang plank has been moved to the 3rd deck as the tide is coming in. The tide change here is in excess of 20 feet. At 1700, the captain gave us a tour of the pilot house before cocktails at 1730. I submitted our gratuity, by credit card, to the ship’s office. For dinner, we both had the Alaskan Dungeness Crab Salad followed by the Seared Char (young salmon). I followed it with the Peach-Berry Cobbler. At 2015, we were entertained by 17 middle-schoolers from the Leikarring Dancers in Petersburg.
