Lunch at Tavern On The Green
|
|
Though we were early, Tavern on The Green seated us promptly in a glassed-in area which gave the impression of being outside.
Lyd ordered a semi-sweet Riesling (13@) and I stayed with iced tea (4).
Lyd ordered the Potato and Leek Soup (17) with dill, trout roe over a brioche crouton.
I had the Mushroom Consommé (16) with grilled trumpet royale over cheese toast.
The soup presentation is done by placing the bowl with garnishes in place and then, table-side, pouring the soup over it.
For her entrée, Lyd ordered the Main Lobster Salad Nicoise (36) with boiled fingerling potatoes, haricots verts, olives, lemon and olive oil.
I had a large helping of Prince Edward Island Steamed Mussels (22) with white wine, garlic, shallots and a Dijon mustard.
The thought of facing the subway was too much for us, so, at our request, the doorman trotted over to Central Park West and secured a cab (20) for our return to the Grand Hyatt.
