With Buddy in the kennel yesterday afternoon, I beat the 0530 alarm and showered first. We left the house at 0630 headed for Salisbury Airport (SBY). Check-in was easy, but we're not used to paying baggage fees as we usually take advantage of first class passage. Whereas that's not available, we paid the $25/bag for our 2 checked bags. TSA was routine as, with my metal hips, I'm used to the "pat down." We boarded AA4680 to find John Cannon, with whom I did two Community Players shows as the flight attendant. ATC delayed our departure by 15 minutes, but the flight to PHL was uneventful. Our departure gate was in Terminal F, but we took the shuttle bus over to Terminal A to purchase Canadian dollars. We returned to Terminal F and secured two seats at gate F27 for AA3951 to Montreal (YUL). We completed Canadian entry forms prior to boarding. Whereas we were unable to book seats together, we had aisle seats on opposite sides of the aisle. My seat-mate was a rather large woman who afforded me no shoulder space at all. It was a real sardine can experience and I miss first class. We landed in Montreal on schedule and went through a highly automated passport control and customs. Our pre-arranged driver was ready, and by 1400, we were in Room 501 of Hotel Le Germain in downtown Montreal. Across the street is a building flying American flags. Not the U.S. Embassy as we anticipated, it's actually a movie set being groomed to look like NYC. We went to the hotel bar and had a couple of drinks. At 1740, we sought out a cab to Bonaparte Restaurant.
