Welsh <<< Sardi's >>> 2016
10/14/2016
At 1730, we walked south to 44th street and east to Sardi's, some 400 feet total, and were promptly seated. Lyd started with a Martini (11) and I had an excellent Maker's Mark Manhattan (14). We selected the Sardi's Special Appetizer (20) of bruschetta; prosciutto and melon; asparagus rolled in smoked salmon; roasted bell peppers; mozzarella and capers; truffled chicken liver pate; grilled shrimp with green olive tapenade for 2; possibly the best appetizer we've ever had. Lyd moved on to the Cannelloni au Gratin (25.75), a combination of beef and pork flavored with porcini mushrooms rolled in a French crepe with supreme sauce. I had the Grilled Marinated Center Cut Pork Chops (32) with peperonata, broccoli rabe, roasted rosemary lemon potato wedges, balsamic and pork jus reduction. We saved room for dessert. Lew picked the warm chocolate cake (11) with melted center, chocolate ice cream, crème Anglaise and dots of chocolate sauce. I picked the NY Cheesecake (10).
