Hurricane Chris formed Jul 6 off the Outer Banks as Tropical Depression 3, meandering, but never headed for the US Coast.
Early on the 8th, still meandering, Chris advanced to Tropical Storm.
Early on the 10th, Chris finally moved off to the North-east, and later in the afternoon reached Hurricane Status, finally reaching Cat 2.
Early on the 11th, Chris moved rapidly, never threatening any land mass until finishing mid-day on the 12th.
