The Plan: Around 0200, we arrive at Port Colborne, ON, on the upstream side of the falls, and the end of the canal. We'll be here until 1600 when we'll head across Lake Eire to Cleveland, OH, arriving around 0600. We plan to take the excursion "Journey Behind The Falls."

At 0652, it’s 73 in Port Colbourne, ON, on the shores of Lake Erie. We had a marvelous breakfast and found, upon returning to the cabin, an invitation to dinner with Captain Joseph Tagupa and Cruise Director Kristen Lambert. At 0830, we joined the busses headed for Niagara Falls, and a back side tour of the falls. Though we took some marvelous shots of the falls, the tunnels to the backside of the falls were too claustrophobic and we turned back. We were back at the boat for lunch. Lyd chose the sweet melon and prosciutto ham followed by the club sandwich of smoked turkey, cranberry, bacon and cheese on whole wheat with chilled peach soup and coleslaw, followed by Bread Pudding and vanilla sauce. I had the New Orleans Seafood Gumbo, the Club Sandwich and Oreo Cheesecake. We asked the F&B manager for the recipe for the Peach Soup. We returned to the room for naps. At 1600, we departed Port Colbourne, ON, headed for Cleveland. At 1730, we went to the Pacific lounge on Deck 4 for cocktails, only to find it quite crowded. At 1815, we went down to dinner and were seated (by our place cards), with the Captain on Lyd’s right. Lyd started with Oysters Rockefeller and I had Cream of Wild Mushroom Soup. Though we had originally decided on the whole lobsters, we decided that was too involved for the Captain’s Table and we each switched to the Roasted Lamb Chops with Ratatouille, herb potatoes, Rosemary Jus and Balsamic Reduction. Everyone at the table finished with the Maple Syrup Crème Brulee. We returned to the room and enjoyed the veranda on Lake Erie until nearly 2200 when we went to bed with the A/C off and the glass door to the verandah open to the lake air.
