We depart at 1500, headed for Port Colborne, via the canal, and several locks to the upstream side of the falls, mostly overnight. At 0600, it’s 70o in Toronto. At 0622, the bellman picked up our bags for transport to the ship. We went down to a very nice breakfast buffet before returning to the room and a few hours of R&R. At 0945, we returned to the lobby and joined the first half of the passenger group for a 2-hour bus tour of Toronto, culminating at the dock and boarding the Pearl Mist where we turned in our passports before going down to lunch. We both started with the Fresh Mozzarella-Tomato Caprese and I moved on to the Cream of Cauliflower Soup. Lyd chose the Chicken Salad Croissant with apple and walnut salad, and I picked the Pan-seared trout with rice pilaf and sauteed Swiss chard. We both skipped dessert. After participating in the required emergency life boat drill, we returned to the room. At 1730, we joined a full 4th deck Pacific lounge for cocktails before returning to the dining room for dinner. Lyd started with the grilled prawns and I picked the Lobster Bisque and followed it with a Spinach Salad. For entrees, Lyd picked the Chateaubriand with Delmonico potatoes and veggie medley, and I selected the seared halibut with steamed veggies and parsley potatoes. I finished with the lemon tart. We returned to the room for the evening, enjoying the passage through the locks of the Welland Canal. At 2127, it’s 79o in the Welland Canal, near lock #7.
