2007 Summer Vacation

From Friday, June 29th through Sunday, July 8th, Tom took annual leave to coincide with Lyd's summer away from the classroom for 10 days of battery recharging. While there were no specific plans, much developed.

Friday, June 29

We lazied around the house. Mark Jacobbi plans to have a worker at the house after the 4th to finish the pool screen.

Saturday, June 30

We menu-planned and shopped.

Sunday, July 1

Mother fell and we brought her to our house until other care can be identified. Lyd baked! It is her 1st attempt at potato rolls. She also made meatballs.
The rolls before.. ..and after
Beauty and the Yeast
[I had to say that]
Meatballs!

Monday, July 2

Mother's doctor appointment has her checked in to Baptist Beaches Hospital for tests on why she has so little use of her legs, but so much pain!

On the way home from the hospital, we invested in a little medication of our own.

We sautéed a lobster tail for dinner.

Tuesday, July 3

We visited Mother again. I spoke with the social worker and she’ll complete the referral for rehab.

Wednesday, July 4

Diane met Lyd at Mother’s house and they cleaned and sanitized. We took stuff out to the hospital. Dr. V told us there are no blood clots, but Mother has very little elasticity in the arteries in her legs which he calls vascular disease. He has ordered an MRI and that will be done tomorrow. We had hot dogs, hamburgers and corn-on-the-cob for our 4th of July lunch. In the evening, Marilyn and Harley came for a visit and then it was time for fireworks.

Thursday, July 5

We picked up things Mother needs and took them out to the hospital.

Friday, July 6

Mother is out of the hospital! She has transferred to Life Care, a rehab center in southeast Jacksonville. This is a lovely place and she'll get the rehab she needs to be able to return home.

Life Care Center

For dinner, we made a veal dish

Saturday, July 7

We menu-planned and grocery shopped in planning for Kate and Sal's Visit. In the afternoon, we spotted this possum on our fence.

Sunday, July 8

We visited mother around 0930. She was talking to her sister. The activities director came and sought her opinion on a variety of activities. Following a rolling tour of the building, we secured vodka and wine with the nurse to be stored in the pharmacy for her use. She is able to eat in her room or in the dining room.

Thus ends our 2007 Summer Vacation
