Dinner at The River Cafe

The 6 of us, are back in Brooklyn with an interesting walk, through heavy traffic, to
The River Café.
Restored after being almost destroyed by Sandy, the pre-fix menu (120) was eclectic and fabulous.
After the amuse bouche, I started with the Sea Scallop and Foie Gras of a sautéed Maine Sea Scallop, mango vinaigrette, seared foie gras, Sauternes wine natural jus, and smoked spring onion confit.
Becky had the Wild Shrimp of “Oscar Style” Pacific Blue shrimp, King crabmeat, white asparagus, and citrus Maltaise sauce;
Brian, the Oysters on the half-shell of east-coast beau soleile and west coast Kumanoto oysters chilled on the half-shell with lemon pepper granita.
Linda had the shrimp and Jerry and Lydia each had the Crab of sautéed Maryland and Maine
crab cake, uni vinaigrette, sliced avocado, herb salad and basil aioli.
Moving on to the entrees, I ordered the Holland Dover Sole sautéed with lobster brown butter artichoke ravioli and fresh artichoke.
Linda and Becky had the North Atlantic Halibut with roasted Maitake mushroom and green
peppercorn au poivre sauce, garden peas and picked Spring onions.
Brian had the Duck Breast with crispy lavender and spice-crusted skin with tender braised red cabbage and sweet potato spaetzle.
Jerry ordered Branzino crusted with shrimp and chorizo, grilled baby zucchini, romesco sauce, Spanish Olive Oil and lemon.
Lyd selected the poached Nova Scotia lobster, with squid ink cavatelli pasta, lobster infused marinara, lobster claw and spinach gratin.
For dessert, Becky and I had the Chocolate Brooklyn Bridge with milk chocolate Marquise, raspberry sorbet, vanilla ice cream, crisp meringue and dark chocolate glaze.
Brian has a special dessert prepared to celebrate his graduation from law school.
Lydia had the Chocolate Soufflé.
We took a few pictures outside before leaving for the return to the hotel.
Jerry and Brian elected to walk back to the subway, but the ladies, and I took a car (40) back to the hotel.
