Background
At 0546, it’s 60. Due to tidal motion, the gangway is not properly placed and the Captain is, understandably, upset. Breakfast was at 0730, though Lyd skipped it. I paid our gratuity, and at 0900, we sailed from Rockland bound for Portland. At 1000, Harold did a tedious recap of the week’s activities, nearly putting me to sleep. Lunch, at 1230, consisted of Finnan Haddie Chowder. Lyd followed this with Lobster Nicoise Salad with Dijon Vinaigrette, green beans, tomato, lettuce, new potatoes and olives. I had a hamburger with lettuce, tomato, onion, a pickle spear and two wedge cut potatoes. Dessert was a berry syllabub. Lyd went down for a nap and I won an ACL parka for coming in 2nd place in Kevin’s classic movie trivia contest. Shortly after 1500, we docked in Portland to find, to our dismay and discomfort an incredibly loud Raggae concert in progress on the other side of the pier. During cocktails at 1730, we learned the Captain had already been replaced. The final dinner featured Old Bay Poached Shrimp for Lyd and French Onions Soup for me. We both followed this with shrimp and crab stuffed Baked Lobster Tail. We skipped dessert and returned to our stateroom to finish packing. We’ve set a 0430 alarm for a 0515 cab to the airport. By 2100, we were both down, but with the Raggae crap expected to go until midnight, there is little hope for much sleep.
