Background
At 0615, it's 59. We had breakfast and boarded a bus headed for Hyde Park. We went north to the Kingston Rhinecliff Bridge and crossed to what the diver called the rich side of the river and then down to Hyde Park for a tour of FDR's library and home. We then re-boarded the bus and headed back, detouring through the parking lot at the Vanderbilt Mansion for a photo op before returning for lunch. We both enjoyed the Butter Wedge Salad with Bacon Lardons, Bleu Cheese, green onions, radishes and herb ranch. We both had the Cornell Barbecued Chicken Salad with corn, red onion, bell pepper, tomatoes, cucumbers, barbecued vinaigrette and cornbread croutons, finding the dressing too strong. I finished with Caramel Apple Crum Pie and then it was off for naps. At 1730, we returned to the 4th deck for cocktails. For dinner, Lew started with the Spinach and Goat Cheese Salad with Raspberry Vinaigrette and I enjoyed the Sweet Corn Bisque with Maine Lobster and fennel salsa. For her entrée, Lyd selected the bleu cheese-herb crusted Bartlett Farms Mignonette of beef with jumbo lump crab bread pudding, asparagus, and brown butter béarnaise. I picked the bacon-wrapped pork tenderloin with maple-glazed sweet potatoes, choucroute and apple-cranberry relish. For my dessert, I picked Winemaker's Grape Cake and Lew had, of course, Chocolate Bread Pudding. We then returned to our cabin for the night. At 2230, it's 62 and the window is open, again.
