With the alarm set for 6, I was up first and showered. I checked with the airline and found both flights to be on-time, though we are still without boarding passes. We left the house at 7, as scheduled, with Lew driving. Without incident, we changed drivers just short of the Bay Bridge. Just after the bridge, we hit the back end of what was to be the US-50 parking lot. We crept along for several miles until, just short of MD2, Ritchie Highway, we decided to bail on the programmed route up I-97 and strike out on our own. With the GPS to guide us, we pulled into $12/day parking at BWI and headed for the terminal. With assistance from a skycap (10), we presented ourselves at American Airlines priority check-in.
Our Canadian destination proved to be the reason for my inability to complete on-line check-in. Agent Paula needed help, but soon completed the task. TSA Pre-Check is only available at Concourse B, so we quickly went through, with no line, and proceeded back to gate C7, grabbing drinks at Harbor Grille. We boarded, on time, and pushed back from the gate precisely at noon. At 1206, we were wheels up.
Following warm nuts, James presented lunch. Lew had pre-ordered Lasagna and I, a
Greek Salad. These were accompanied by drinks, of course. Later, we enjoyed coffee with Baileys and a warm, soft cookie.
We landed in Dallas at 1352 CDT in the C concourse. There is an elevated Skyline rail
connecting the concourses and we transited to the A concourse and gate A14.
We pushed back from A14 at 1654 for a 3:53 duration flight aboard a B737 in seats 4E & 4F. We were wheels up at 1704. We had a rather nice chicken dinner, with cocktails, of course, followed by strawberry ice cream.
We landed at 1900 PDT in Vancouver where the skies are quite smokey due to local forest fires. We went through passport control and engaged a Skycap (15) to help with the luggage.
He took us to our driver who conducted us on an unexpected tour of Vancouver before depositing us at the Fairmont Waterfront.
We checked in at 2030 PDT (2330 EDT) and Lew, promptly went to bed.
I was not far behind.
