| At 0540, we pulled into Winnipeg, now 9 hours late. At 0600, I went to the Park car, where we have a new concierge crew: Shantal, Janae, & Celindy. At 0745, we rolled out of Winnipeg. By 1030, we had traveled 40 miles in 3 hours, waiting, at one siding, for 3 westbound freights. First seating for lunch was at 1215. Along with glasses of merlot, we both had the tomato vegetable soup. Lew moved on to the Turkey Club and I had the Bison Burger. We then returned to the Park Car, briefly, before opting for naps. At 1520, we did a “stretch your legs” stop in Sioux Lookout, Ontario, though we didn’t get off the train. We went down for first call for dinner. With glasses of merlot we also had an amuse bouche. We both selected the Asparagus Soup and the 10 oz veal chop. For dessert, Lew had the carrot cake and I, the chocolate tort. We returned to the park car for Lew’s decafe and Bailey’s and my Lot 40 and ginger. At 2045, we were passed by #1, westbound as we passed into the Eastern Time zone. At 2115 EDT, I closed down for the night. |
