We walked over to the Brown Derby to check in and were told it would be an hour before we were called to our table.
10 minutes later, we were summoned.
Mark was our server. Lew started with the Caymus Cabernet Sauvignon (27) which she pronounced to be worth the price.
She moved on to the Blue Lump Crab Crispy Wonton (16) of puffed rice noodles, Lolla Rosa, Cucumber, Tomato, Ponzu Vinaigrette, wasabi Aioli and Piquillo Pepper Sauce.
I started with the Togarashi-crusted Ahi Tuna (15) with house-made kimchi, sesame jasmine rice, sake and ginger-soy glace.
Lew moved on to the Grilled Wagyu Beef Burger (23) with Gruyere cheese, pastrami, heirloom tomato, avocado, fried egg, toasted brioche with cognac-mustard aioli and hand-cut steak fries.
We were visited by Disney’s incarnation-de-jour of Nora Desmond, who was quite a character, as expected.
A visit to the Brown Derby, for me, is not complete without the Cobb Salad (11/Appetizer portion) of finely chopped greens, turkey breast, bacon, egg, tomatoes, crumbled blue cheese, avocado, chives and the Cobb Dressing.
Dessert (11), for just me, was a selection of 3 mini-desserts, from a list of 6.
I selected Lemon cheesecake with white chocolate cream and local blueberries, and two slices of the Brown Derby Original Mini Grapefruit Cake.
