Around 0700, we will arrive in Bar Harbor, ME At 1700, we will depart Bar Harbor, ME, bound for Lunenburg, NS.
At 0605, it’s 52(?), and very foggy, underway to Bar Harbor. There is no internet, but I found tea and croissants in the 4th deck lounge. At 0700, on schedule, we moored in Bar Harbor. As the fog lifted, other, larger, liners began to appear. We had elected not to go into town. At 0700, we went down for breakfast. Lew enjoyed Eggs Benedict and I had a plate of corn beef has with bacon and rye toast. We relaxed in the room until lunch, while others took the launch into Bar Harbor and on to Acadia National Park, which we had done in 2015. For lunch, I started with the Spring Noodle Soup with scallions and shrimps. We both followed that with the Reuben Sandwich in Rye Bread with sauerkraut, Thousand Island and Swiss Cheese with oven fried potatoes. My bread was so hard, I only ate the “innards.” Lew finished with a really poor cheese and cracker plate and I had a slab of a very heavy cheesecake. We both rested in the afternoon before moving to cocktails at 1730 on the 4th deck lounge where we chatted with two gentlemen from Orange County, California. At dinner, we were joined by Bob & Eileen Heitman from Yardley, PA. Lew started with the Lobster Souffle with American Cream Sauce. I ordered the Smoked Salmon Tartar, but ended up, instead, with the Boston Lettuce Salad with Crumbled Gorganzola & Focaccia Croutons. We both had a weak Bouillabaisse with Seafood Soup Provencal. We both enjoyed an excellent Pan Fried Snapper with herb mashed potatoes, sautéed greens and Citrus Cream Sauce. Although we were underway at 1730, we soon developed an “engine communication problem” and returned to Bar Harbor. At 2153, it’s 58.
