We'll arrive at Baie-Comeau,QC at 0900 and depart at 1800 for Saguenay Fjord, QC
At 0612, it’s 39 in the St. Lawrence River, approaching Baie Comeau, QC. We went down to breakfast, submitted our cruise gratuities, and then docked at 0850. There are school buses awaiting our excursions. At 1030, with many of the passengers ashore, the Captain ran a series of emergency drills for the crew. At 1130. I participated in a tour of the pilot house. It was conducted by the 2nd officer. Whereas, she has only been aboard for 3 weeks and has a very thick Polish accent, the tour was not very productive. For lunch, we ate with “China.” Lew started with the Black Bean Soup. I, also, had the soup, but first had the Gravad Lax with Red Onions, Capers and Horseradish Cream. Lew had the Grilled Chicken Focaccia with tomato, jack cheese, arugula, grilled eggplant-tomato, cucumber and feta salad. I picked a cheeseburger. After naps, we returned to the 4th deck lounge and afternoon cocktails. We were underway at 1900 to Saguenay, QC. Then it was down to dinner. Lew had the roasted beet salad and I tried the Seared Calamari, but it wasn’t very good, so I moved on to the Minestroni which was excellent. My entrée was a huge Braised Lamb Shank over mashed potatoes & Brunoise of vegetables. Lew had the pan-seared Snapper Filet over saffron rice, sautéed greens with Garlic Herb Tomato Wine Sauce. I finished with a scoop of lemon sorbet. At 2130, it’s 46, underway to Saguenay, QC.
