This base recipe was pulled from the August 2009 Southern Living.
Ingredients:
4 ounces unsweetened chocolate baking squares
3/4 cup butter
1.5 cups granulated sugar
1/2 cup firmly packed brown sugar
3 eggs
1 cup all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/8 teaspoon salt
1 cup Black Walnut pieces
Procedures:
  1. Preheat oven to 350o. Prepare a 9" square baking dish by spraying with Pam.
  2. Microwave on low power to defrost the chocolate squares and butter in a large microwave-safe bowl 4 minutes or until melted and smooth, stirring at 30-second intervals.
  3. Whisk in the sugars.
  4. Add eggs, 1 at a time, whisking just until blended after each addition.
  5. Whisk in flour, vanilla and salt.
  6. Fold in the nuts.
  7. Pour mixture into prepared dish.
  8. Bake at 350o for 40-45 minutes or until a wooden pick insterted in the center comes out with a few moist crumbs.
  9. Cool completely on a wire rack for about an hour.
  10. Lift the Brownies from the pan using the foil as handles.
  11. Gently remove the foil and cut the brownies into 16 squares.
Notes:
2012-12-06: We made a batch for Christmas.
2009-08-15: Lyd made a batch for a party on 2009-08-23. They need more salt. Do NOT substitute Splenda for the sugar.
2009-08-01: Lyd pulled this recipe and added the nuts. We're going to schedule it, soon.
