BROWNIES-[OLD RECIPE] |

This base recipe was pulled from the August 2009 Southern Living.
|
|
Ingredients: |
4 ounces unsweetened chocolate baking squares
3/4 cup butter
1.5 cups granulated sugar
1/2 cup firmly packed brown sugar

3 eggs
1 cup all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/8 teaspoon salt
1 cup Black Walnut pieces

Procedures: |
- Preheat oven to 350o. Prepare a 9" square baking dish by spraying with Pam.
- Microwave on low power to defrost the chocolate squares and butter in a large microwave-safe bowl 4 minutes or until melted and smooth, stirring at 30-second intervals.
- Whisk in the sugars.
- Add eggs, 1 at a time, whisking just until blended after each addition.
- Whisk in flour, vanilla and salt.
- Fold in the nuts.
- Pour mixture into prepared dish.
- Bake at 350o for 40-45 minutes or until a wooden pick insterted in the center comes out with a few moist crumbs.
- Cool completely on a wire rack for about an hour.
- Lift the Brownies from the pan using the foil as handles.
- Gently remove the foil and cut the brownies into 16 squares.

2012-12-06: We made a batch for Christmas.
2009-08-15: Lyd made a batch for a party on 2009-08-23. They need more salt. Do NOT substitute Splenda for the sugar.
