BRATS AND ONIONS
Ingredients:
2 per person, Brats
1 Large White Onion, sliced
1/2 Vidalia onion per person, sliced
1 Beer
1 stick Butter
1 hoagie bun per Brat (Optional)
Procedures:
Melt the butter in a small pan.
Sauté the onions, in the butter, until soft and brown.
Transfer the softened onion/butter mixture to an oven-proof dish.
Place the brats on onions.
Cover with beer.
Bake at 375o for 20 minutes.
Brown the brats in the same pan.
Plate the onions and brats.
Notes:
2012-01-01; 2010-07-18: I reduced the onions and changed it to Vidalia; excellent!
2009-09-13: The brats, again, were great, but the onions need work. They were underdone and need some seasoning.
2009-02-01: The brats were great, but the onions were still underdone. They need to be cooked longer in the butter before baking.
2008-09-21: The brats were delicious, but the onions were underdone. I'll try something different. The onions probably need to be cooked on the stove top until soft before putting them in the oven with the brats.
