CABBAGE SALLET |

Ingredients: |
1 cabbage, shredded
1 onion, chopped
1 red pepper, chopped
2 stalks celery, chopped
1 cup salad oil
|
1/2 cup granulated sugar
1/2 cup cider vinegar
1/2 cup mayonnaise
1/2 teaspoon celery seed
|
|
Procedures: |
Mix the onion and red pepper with the sugar.
Let stand 20-30 minutes.
Add all ingredients except the cabbage.
Refrigerate
When cool, fold in the cabbage just before serving.

Notes: |
2022-01-14: The cabbage head was large, so only half was used. Very good.
2020-07-17: The first day of preparation was accomplished as prescribed for tomorrow‘s lunch. The final result was tasty, but the slaw mix should have been chopped smaller before adding.
2016-04-17: The sugar was reduced to 1/2 cup.
2016-01-20: Too sweet; needs salt; cabbage need to be cut smaller; more pepper cut smaller; less cabbage. Much better the 2nd day. Therefore, make a day ahead.
