Cranberry Sparklers

Ingredients:
1 cup pure maple syrup
2 cups fresh cranberries
1 cup sugar
Parchment paper
Procedures:
Heat the maple syrup in he microwave. (Don't let syrup get too hot or cranberries will pop.) Remove from heat; stir in cranberries. Cover and chill 8 to 12 hours.
Place sugar in a large bowl or baking dish. Drain cranberries in a colander (about 15 minutes). Add 4 to 5 cranberries at a time to sugar; gently toss to coat. Repeat with remaining cranberries. Place cranberries in a single layer on a parchment paper-lined baking sheet; let stand until completely dry.
Notes:
2025-12-26: A portion to be taken to Exeter for Ann and Santo’s Christmas party. The syrup was heated for 1 minute in the microwave and then poured over the cranberries - overnight. The berries were the bagged with sufficient sugar to coat, and allowed to dry.
2025-11-26: For Thanksgiving dinner at SKDL.
2024-12-24: We made a batch for Christmas Eve, and took the rest to Exeter for Ann’s Christmas dinner.
2024-11-26: Our first batch was excellent.
