Holiday Greetings
2009
This would appear to be the 7th Christmas newsletter I have composed using the technology of the day, including links. Strictly speaking, once again, this is not a Christmas letter. Those are missives in a pleasant type face, on fancy holiday "paper", carefully folded and sent through snail-mail with something attached called a "postage stamp!"(44 cents)

Dominic is still the high point of the year. As doting grandparents, we do keep a record of his monthly birthday pictures. May be we'll stop celebrating monthly once he's two years old, but I doubt it.

In February, we finally brought Mother from Jacksonville to Salisbury so we'd be better able to care for her needs.

When we retired, folks asked us why we were moving away from sunny Florida to a land of ice and snow. We don't get that much snow, actually. March 2, we did!

After 4 years without a dog, we started searching for a new one. After checking a few of the local shelters, we drove down to Virginia and brought home Buddy.

Mother's time in Salisbury did not go well. She was in a couple of local facilities and in the local hospital a few times. We lost her on November 18 when she went to join Daddy and Steven.

For the last 3 or 4 years, Tom has experienced increasing difficulty and discomfort walking. After a few tests, on November 24th he had a new left hip installed.

Now the Christmas season is upon us. Tom is recovering from surgery nicely. Our house in Jacksonville still has not sold. Lyd's mother, Margaret, at 98, is still going strong. In fact, in April, after Tom has the right hip replaced as well, the three of us are going to
Disney World for a week of fun.

Merry Christmas

Tom and Lydia (& Buddy)
