April 2-10, 2011
I'm officiating at the Commissioner's Academic Challenge at the Coronado Springs Hotel at Walt Disney World. Margaret is with us again and we're staying at Bay Lake Tower.
Since 1997, Tom has been officiating at the Commissioner's Academic Challenge (CAC), a competition among participating districts of the 67 school districts in the state of Florida. Before we retired, we were a part of the delegation from Duval County (Jacksonville), one of the Division 1 (large) Districts. In past years, Tom has been a question reader and a coordinating judge and will do so again this year. Margaret, Lyd's 99-year-old mother went with us last year, when we stayed in the Contemporary Hotel on the Atrium floor. She is going with us again this year, and, for the 3rd time, we're staying in Bay Lake Tower as members of the Disney Vacation Club, which we joined last May. For those who like to count, this is our 3rd stay at Bay Lake Tower (17 days); 28th visit to the Contemporary (142 days); 34th stay "On-Property" (177 days). Saturday and Sunday were travel days from Salisbury, MD, to Orlando. Sunday night we were at the California Grill. Monday, we went Hollywood Studios. Lunch was at the Brown Derby, and dinner at Citricos.

Tuesday, we're going to explore the Magic Kingdom. Lunch will most likely be in the Grand Floridian and dinner is at the Yachtsman Steakhouse. Wednesday, the CAC starts. We'll have a work session where we'll review all the questions (and possible answers) that will be used over the next three days. The ladies will be spending a chunk of the morning in the Spa on the 3rd floor of the Contemporary. Dinner will be at Kouzzina, a first time for all of us. Thursday starts the competition rounds over in the Coronado Springs Convention Center. The ladies time is unstructured. They may go into a park or they may lay about the pool. Dinner is back upstairs at the California Grill. Friday is the second day of competition. I'll be finished around 2:30 and we're going to EPCOT. Dinner is at Artist Point. Saturday is the last day of competition and, being our last night, we're back at Citricos. Sunday has us flying back to Baltimore and then driving down to Salisbury.
