FEBRUARY AT DISNEY WORLD February 12-17, 2012

We're spending the week of Lyd's 63rd birthday at Bay Lake Tower at Walt Disney World.

We left the room at 0845 headed for the Magic Kingdom. We took the resort monorail, arriving just a few minutes after opening. We took the Walt Disney Railroad over to Frontierland. We went to Pirates of The Caribbean and then the Jungle ride. We watched a few minutes of a street dance and then went into Country Bear Jamboree. From there it was on to the Haunted Mansion which we finished just before 1100. All the while, we noted that the crowds were low. We decided to come out through Fantasyland and it was there that we found the crowds. We encountered a small street parade on our way to the launch to the Grand Floridian. There we had a chat with Jim, from West Virginia who took over as launch captain and took us over to the Grand Floridian. On the way out, I suggested that Lyd look in Summer Lace, a shop in the Grand Floridian, for the watch she wanted and she found it. We went back to the hotel, restocked our bar, and bought Lyd a hat. We left at 5, headed for Flying Fish. Our plan of travel was to take a bus from the Contemporary to Hollywood Studios and then take the boat from Hollywood Studios to the Boardwalk. By 1730, the bus to Hollywood Studios had arrived, but couldn’t load/unload until the bus in front of him loaded two wheel chairs. He, in turn, offloaded a wheel chair. We then went to the Polynesian and then onto the Grand Floridian! We gave up on this route and exited at the Grand Floridian to take the monorail to the Magic Kingdom, planning to take a bus directly to the Boardwalk. Well, we encountered change-of-shift, and sat on the Boardwalk-bound bus from 1745 until 1800 when he left the station. We arrived at the Boardwalk and checked in at the Flying Fish at 1820, 15 minutes late. Stig came out and told us they had a backlog at the bar and he was trying to get us in ASAP. We were finally seated at 1855 and were pleased to be back with bartender Lorna, from Glasgow.
