Background
We'll depart Albany (Troy) at 1300.
At 0546, it's 49 in Troy, NY. Following breakfast we boarded a bus for a tour of Albany. We stopped first at the State Capitol Building and then The New York State Museum. We were back on board at 1145. At 1230, we went down for lunch, starting with glasses of Pinot Gregio as the predicted rains finally arrived. At 1311, the last line was aboard and we reversed course for the trip south as the Squash Bisque with Smoked Ham arrived. Lyd moved on to a grilled Harvest Turkey Burger with lettuce, pickle spear, roasted butternut squash salad, corn relish and honey mustard. I enjoyed the Poached Flounder with Dilled Potatoes, sautéed Grape Tomatoes, green-pepper relish and Dill Beurre Blanc Sauce. Lyd finished with a slice of Pecan Pie and had a single scoop of Rainbow Sherbet. As we passed Albany, to starboard, I took a few shots in the steady rain before we returned to the cabin for naps. At 1730, we returned to the Nantucket Lounge for cocktails where I finished the bottle of Jack Daniels. OK, I had help, but Marie still drained the bottle into my glass. On to dinner and we're nearly exhausted of good rich food. Lew skipped the appetizer and I had Dry Seared Mushroom Ragout with puff pastry, balsamic vinaigrette and micro greens. Lew had a half order of the Pan-seared Chicken Breast with Braised cabbage, apple-onion hash and horseradish-Calvados Cream. I had the Braised Short Ribs of Beef with Pan-Roasted Vegetable and butternut squash risotto. We both skipped dessert and the evening lighthouse lecture and returned to the room. At 2145, it's 49.
