Steak Diane 2012-06-01
A favorite in the Welsh Kitchen. There is a previous version.
Ingredients:
1 T Olive Oil
2 T Butter
1/2 cup chopped shallots
1/3 cup beef stock
1 T Dijon Mustard
2 t fresh lemon juice
1 t Worcestershire
2-3 Filet Mignons!
Procedures:
Slice the steaks as thin as possible; the thinner the better.
Melt the butter and add the Olive Oil.
Sauté the shallots until softened.
Add the beef stock, mustard, Worcestershire and Lemon Juice and boil for 1-2 minutes.
Reduce heat.
Add the steaks to the pan and simmer until done.
Serve, pouring the sauce over the steaks!
Notes:
2026-03-18: with mushrooms, Brussels sprouts, a Cabernet, preceded by foie gras.
2025-09-22: Served with Eichorn mushrooms, baked potatoes, and a bottle of Primitivo.
2025-05-09: Served with mashed potatoes, Elaine’s tomatoes and a Malbec, preceded by foie gras.
2024-11-18: With pasta pasta papperdelle, sweet peas, and a Malbec.
2007-10-05: Added to our cookbook.
