We slept until 0715 and found the rest of the family already awake.
We took a crowded bus to Animal Kingdom.
After our arrival, we worked our way back to Rafiki’s Planet Watch.
We checked out all the animal opportunities, and Nico was fascinated.
We took the Wildlife Express Train and spent some time in Affection Section, the petting area.
We gave Nico a choice after that and he chose the pool.
We walked through the gift shop at the Rainforest Café and there was a lot for Nico to see.
The bus ride back was less than satisfactory.
We waited 35 minutes for a bus, outside the published norm, and when it arrived, there was a driver change and the driver’s chatted for another 10 minutes before we were underway to the Contemporary.
Once back in the room, everyone changed for pool activities.
Nico played a lot in the water spray activities and in the pool.
We then returned to the room where Nico got his first introduction to the Jacuzzi.
Then it was nap time.
We were at Narcoossee’s a little early, but they gave us a good table and Lori was our server, as requested.
We all had drinks!
Kate had a Narcarita (9.25), Sal, a Stella Artois (6.75) from Belgium.
Lyd had two glasses of the Spy Valley Pinot Noir (13) and Tom, a pair of Maker’s Mark Manhattans (9.25).
Lori brought Nico a collection of goldfish crackers and a cup of water with a Mickey straw.
For starters, Lyd suggested a Brie en Croute which we all shared.
Kate opted for the Rhode Island Calamari, while both Sal and Lyd picked the Fried Oysters Rockefeller.
Tom picked the Green Goddess Salad which replaced their signature Caesar salad.
For entrees, Kate selected Pan-seared Scallops while Sal had the Crisp Whole Snapper.
Lyd picked the Bouillabaise and Tom went for the Steamed Whole Maine Lobster.
Nico got the asparagus along with a cheeseburger and fruit cup.
Vicki Thompson, the area manager, stopped by and visited with us.
We cleared the restaurant at 1930 with a mission!
The fireworks were scheduled for 2000 and Nico had not yet seen them.
We hurried to the monorail and made good connections back to the Contemporary and then the walk through Bay Lake Tower and up to the 16th floor lounge.
We made it with time to spare as the fireworks were delayed until 2010.
Nico enjoyed them but found them a little loud, so I stayed outside on the observation deck while the rest of the family went into the lounge for the rest of the show.
We returned to the room after “Wishes” and Lyd and Nico promptly retired.
