We learned about Kristen’s marriage.
We resumed Brain Brawl, but in the 5th floor conference room, not on TV.
We discussed the selling of the houses and decided Mother’s will be listed first.
January 10, we participated in our last Science Fair at JWJ where I judged for 17 years.
The following weekend we visited Kate and Sal in Wyomissing
In February 01, I saw Dr. Lewis and my PSA is 4.5, the same as last time. He says to see him in 6 months.
Later in the week, I pronounced words for the city spelling bee, my last.
I spoke to a public meeting at Blue Cross Blue Shield, hosted by Health and Human Services Secretary, Mike Leavitt.
We enjoyed Spamelot at the Times-Union theatre.

March 03, I did 5 back-to-back Brain Brawl episodes, my last, and Stanton swept both JV and Varsity.
Kate informed us that we are to be grandparents in late September.
March 10, I picked up Lyd at school and we filled out our retirement papers.
March 29, Lyd and Kate went to 224 N Clairmont and spent 35 minutes in narration and Kate took 200+ pictures with our camera.
Leak Detectors found and fixed a sub-slab leak in the bedroom closet.
We had our Spring holiday and the 12th Commissioner’s Academic Challenge.
I completed SACS CASI QART for Columbia High School in Lake City.
Lyd finished teaching and we went to the 11th Panasonic Academic Challenge
Thursday, June 26, I left the office at 1500 for the last time --- retired.
We took the Autotrain from Sanford, Florida to Lorton, Virginia
The driveway extension was installed.
We did a weekend in Wyomissing, and Bill visited from Colorado

We did an overnight trip to Wyomissing to see Dominic.

Kate arrived for her medical conference and Sal is resigning from teaching at the end of the year and wants to do something with computers.
In May, Jackie Sullivan, from Watson Realty, came to have her initial visit with us for the eventual selling of our home.

I completed SACS-CASI chair training with Pat Carley.
The 20th Panasonic Academic Challenge, my 10th, was at Walt Disney World, with Kate and Sal in attendance.
Sunday, July 1, Mother fell and spent the night with us
Kate and Sal were in town for Kate’s 10-year high school reunion.
Mother had back surgery and is in intensive care.

This is her 26th year teaching Gifted and her 23rd in 7th grade Gifted Science.
I am opening my 8th year as Director of Research Services in Instructional Research and Accountability, my 14th in research and my 34th in education.
Kate will be starting her 3rd year as a Physician Assistant in the practice in Fleetwood/Oley, PA.
Sal, having resigned from Wyomissing High School will be freelancing.
In August, we brought Mother home from LifeCare, a month ahead of their recommendations.
In October, I participated in the SACS CASI QAR review of St.
Johns School District.
In December, Tom attended the SACS-CASI convention in Orlando.
Christmas was in Salisbury with Margaret, Bill, Kate, Sal, and Jack

I am opening my 7th year as Director of Research Services in Instructional Research and Accountability, my 13th in research and my 33rd in education.
Kate will be starting her 2nd year as a Physician Assistant in a practice in Fleetwood, PA.
Sal will be starting his 2nd year at Wyomissing Junior Senior High School, his 5th year teaching.
In October, I participated in the Broward County SACS-CASI QRT.
In November, I resigned as Treasurer and Board member from JSCA.
Mother, Lyd and I spent Thanksgiving with Kate and Sal and Sal’s family.
In December, I went to the SACS-CASI convention in Atlanta.
We flew, uneventfully, into Salisbury.
Bill joined us as did Kate and Sal (& Jack).

In January, Lyd and I went to Disney World.
We stayed in the concierge section of the Yacht Hotel and had a wonderful vacation of fun and food.
Jacksonville hosted Super Bowl XXXIX.
In April, Charlie was euthanased.
Commissioner’s Academic Challenge, Contemporary Resort, Walt Disney World
In May, Kate was inducted into the PA honorary society, Pi Alpha, one of 5 in a class of 40.
They also presented her with an award of being the most exemplary PA student in the clinical rotations.
Kate visited from Glenside.
Kate returned to Glenside on the same flight with Lydia who went on to Salisbury.
In June, Lyd, Kate, Sal and I are at my 8th Panasonic Academic Challenge at the Contemporary Resort at Walt Disney World.
Lyd joined me at the office and we went to Risk Management and entered DROP.
We will end our employment in three years.
Kate has taken a job with a family practice in Fleetwood.
In July, we constructed our Book Case Head Board.
Five visitors from Port Elizabeth, South Africa arrived.

Kate will be starting her 1st job as a Physician Assistant in a practice in Fleetwood, PA.
Sal is looking for a teaching position near Reading.
August 29, At daybreak, Hurricane Katrina hit New Orleans and the Mississippi Gulf Coast.
In November, we had the 1st taped match at DASOTA for the 2005-2006 Brain Brawl Season.
This is the 27th year of competition, my 13th consecutive year and 17th overall.

In January, I had a Selective Laser Trabeculoplasty (SLT) done on my left eye to prevent damage from glaucoma.
Lyd’s birthday weekend was at the Sea Turtle.
In March, I had SLT to the right eye.
In April, my 8th Commissioner’s Academic Challenge.
Two representatives from Port Elizabeth flew in to JAX and I was part of the delegation meeting them.
In May, Kate flew in for 8 days
Sal flew in for the weekend.
Lyd flew to SBY to visit her mother.
Kate flew to Las Vegas for the AAPA convention.
In June, Panasonic Academic Challenge (my 7th), without Lyd.
We spent our 30th anniversary weekend at the Sea Turtle.

Hurricane Frances produced closed schools on Friday.
Ivan is not to be a factor, here, but is for the panhandle.
We are home to avoid the effects of Hurricane Jeanne. Once again we have gotten the light end of a major hurricane -- Four in a row.
In October, Mother took a cruise to Key West and the Bahamas.
In November, Brain Brawl was in the 26th season; my 12th consecutive year and 16th, overall.
We journeyed to Philadelphia for a weekend with Kate and Sal and Santo and Ann and most of the Ferarrello family.

In December, Mother came for dinner and while Lyd was walking Charlie she asked if she had died instead of Daddy, would we be abandoning him for 12 days.

March 5, George Engle died with Margaret at his side, holding his hand.
Lyd flew from JAX to SBY for her father’s funeral and burial.
We attended the wedding of Zach Osbeck and Shannon Thrasher. The reception was at HHCC.
In April, I attended, alone, my 7th CAC at WDW
Saturday, April 19, Kate and Sal were married at the Lakeside Inn in Limerick, PA.
In May, we purchased a 2003 Volvo S40 and traded in the 1986 Volvo 244DL.
The Osbecks experienced a tragic house fire.
Kate started her Master’s Degree program in Physician Assistant.
Lyd flew to SBY.

Lyd's hysterectomy was successful; laparoscopic with a small vaginal cut to extract the uterus, tubes and ovaries.

In May, we installed the new SunSetter awning above the pool deck.

In August, Sal called and asked my permission to ask Kate to marry him.
In November, the Superintendent's Academic Challenge resumes. It is the 24th season; my 10th consecutive year and 14th, overall.
In December, Lyd and I flew to SBY, though our luggage didn’t make the connection and was delivered to the house at 2000.
The Denver family arrived.
Lyd , Margaret and I drove up to Reading for Kate’s surprise shower.

Lyd went to Maryland
In April, a needle biopsy by Dr. Lewis was negative and CAC (my 5th) at WDW.
In May, Kate’s college graduation from Ursinus
In June, PAC (my 4th) at WDW w/ Linda Laws and family and Kate and Sal
Dad suffered an apparent TIA and received a pacemaker.
In July, Dad returned to the hospital following another sincopal episode.

September 11, we called Kate, in the aftermath of the Attack on America, just to hear her voice.
Monday, October 15, Dad died at 0925. Cremation is ordered and he’ll be interred in New Jersey.

Kate flew in for the Thanksgiving Holiday.

Lyd flew to Maryland for 4 weeks.
In August, Nana and Papa moved into 4030 High Pine Road and gave Kate their RAV4 as an early graduation present.

This is her 18th year teaching Gifted and her 16th in 7th grade Gifted Life Science.

Thanksgiving was in Salisbury, with Margaret in Rehab and George in the Nursing Home.
I was tapped as a member of the Board of Directors of Junior Achievement
Kate was home for Christmas for 4 weeks.
