Lyd merged Brownies-Joy with Brownies-Old to produce this version.
Ingredients:
4 oz unsweetened chocolate, chopped
1 stick butter
1.25 cups sugar
2 teaspoons vanilla
4 large eggs
1.25 cup all purpose flour
1.5 cup chopped black walnuts
1/2 teaspoon salt
8 oz English toffee bits
1/2 cup packed brown sugar
1 Tablespoon Expresso Coffee powder
Procedures:
Bring all ingredients to room temperature.
Spray 9 x 9 pan with Pam.
In a saucepan, under very low heat, melt the chocolate and butter.
In a large bowl, whisk the eggs.
Cool the chocolate completely and then add the sugar, vanilla, eggs, Expresso, flour, walnuts and toffee bits.
Spread into a pan and bake at 350o for 45 minutes.
Cool completely before cutting into squares.
Notes:
2016-12-13: The 9x9 ,pan. After 45 minutes they were loose, so they sat in the oven for 5 minutes more.
2015-12-09: forgot nuts; added to pan and pushed down into bottom. Too sweet: sugar reduced from 1.5 to 1.25 cups.
2014-12-08: 8" x 13" glass dish
2014-06-21: The metal pan was used. the time was extended 5 minutes with the oven off.
2014-04-15: The flour and walnuts were increased and 10 minutes were added.
