Sal, Kate , Dominic and Leo (SKDL) reside in Wyomissing, a suburb of Reading, Pennsylvania. We're in Salisbury, MD.
It's about a 4 hour drive, each way.
The most common route, northbound, is up US 13 to just south of Dover.
There, you pick up Delaware Route 1, a toll road, which goes up to Wilmington, DE.
There, you transition to I-95 towards Philadelphia.
Depending on traffic, there is a choice of staying on I-95 through downtown Wilmington, or taking I-495 down by the Port of Wilmington, which is longer, but less traffic.
On the north-east side of Wilmington, I-95 proceeds a few miles before connecting with I-476, also known as the Blue Route.
You take I-476 North, toward Plymouth Meeting, until intersecting I-76 which goes from Philadelphia to Harrisburg.
Take I-76 west, a few miles.
Still I-76, it becomes the Pennsylvania Turnpike, a toll road.
The Turnpike continues west to Morgantown, where it connects with I-176, which goes over the ridge and into Reading.
